UC WOMEN'S HOCKEY IS SET TO HOST WILLIAMS SUNDAY

Utica, NY - The Utica College women's hockey team (8-6, 5-5 Empire 8) is set to host Williams College Sunday afternoon at the Utica Memorial Auditorium. The puck is scheduled to drop at 3 p.m.

This will be the second game of a two-game season series. The Pioneers beat the Ephs last month on Dec. 8, 3-1, in Williamstown, MA.


UC snapped a two-game skid Friday as they beat host Nichols College, 5-1, closing out a four-game road trip with a record of 2-2.

Utica is led by senior forward Darcy Hier (Centennial, CO/Colorado Selects) who currently leads the team in scoring with 18 points, including 16 assists. Hier is currently ranked third nationally in assists (1.14 apg) and tenth in points (1.29 ppg).

Freshmen forward Megan Myers (Las Vegas, NV/LA Selects) leads the squad in goals with nine and is second in total points with 16. 11 of her 16 points have come in critical conference games. Myers is ranked seventh in the country in rookie scoring, averaging 1.14 points per contest on nine goals and seven assists.

Junior Jennifer Hamel (Ithaca, NY/Northwood School) leads UC goalkeepers with a record of 5-2, including the team's sole shut out. Hamel ranks 17th nationally with a goals against average of 1.73. She currently has a save percentage of .938.

Following Sunday's game, the Pioneers will have nine remaining games of which eight will be crucial ECAC Women's West Conference match-ups. On Saturday Jan. 28, UC will host SUNY Potsdam at “the Aud” and then travel the following day, Sunday, Jan. 29, to rematch the Bears in Potsdam. The puck is scheduled to drop at 4 p.m. for both games.
