UTICA, NY- The Utica College women's hockey team looks to keep its momentum rolling as it travels to Morrisville State Wednesday evening for a non-conference contest. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT: The Pioneers are coming off a sweep of SUNY Cortland in ECAC West Conference action last weekend… Utica topped the Red Dragons 3-0 on Saturday and escaped with a 1-0 victory on Sunday… Junior
Keira Goin (Dobbs Ferry, NY/Hotchkiss School) was lights out in net as she stopped all 40 shots she faced on the weekend to pick up a pair of shutouts…
Gabrielle Schnepp (Northville, MI/Belle Tire) had a hand in all three points on Saturday as she registered a short-handed goal and added two assists…
Morgan Reed (Fort Myers, FL/Cushing Academy) and
Lauren Patterson (Burlington, Ontario/Oakville) each had one goal and one assist on Saturday, and senior
Janessa Haasbeek (Grand Forks, ND/Canadian International Hockey Academy) totaled three helpers on the weekend…
Emily Coope (Phoenix, AZ/Colorado Tigers) scored the lone goal in Sunday's win, with
Taylor Osowski (Highlands Ranch, CO/Colorado Selects) picking up one assist.
SHUTTING THE DOOR: Junior
Keira Goin (Dobbs Ferry, NY/Hotchkiss School) set a new program record for longest shutout streak, as she has not allowed a goal in the last three games… Her four shutouts on the year tie the College's single-season record and she is currently seventh nationally with a .960 save percentage and eighth in goals against average (1.00)... For her efforts, she was named the ECAC West Goalie of the Week as well as earning a spot on the D3hockey.com Team of the Week.
REED REMAINS RED HOT: Senior
Morgan Reed (Fort Myers, FL/Cushing Academy) has had a breakout season in her final campaign… She has totaled 21 points through 11 games so far, which is just five points shy of her career-best of 26 points that she accumulated in 27 games last season… Her 1.91 points per game rank fourth nationally, while she is third in the country with 12 goals.
SCHNEPP SHINES ON SPECIAL TEAMS: Four of the five goals that junior
Gabrielle Schnepp (Northville, MI/Belle Tire) has scored this season have come on special teams… She has three power play goals and one short-handed tally to go along with her national-best 14 assists this year… 14 assists in a year is a career-best for Schnepp, with still half of the regular season left to play.
D3HOCKEY.COM TEAM OF THE WEEK: Apart from Goin, senior captain
Janessa Haasbeek (Grand Forks, ND/Canadian International Hockey Academy) was also named to the national Team of the Week by D3hockey.com… Haasbeek was a factor on both ends of the ice in the sweep over Cortland… On Saturday, she had two assists, including one on the game-winner just 23 seconds into the first period of Utica's 3-0 win… She followed that up with an assist on the game's only goal in a 1-0 win over the Red Dragons on Sunday... As part of the team's top defensive pairing, she has also helped lead a Utica defense that has not allowed a goal in its last three games.
SCOUTING MORRISVILLE: The Mustangs, who are in the midst of their first year as a varsity sport, have jumped out to an impressive 5-3-2 start and are unbeaten in the Colonial Hockey Conference (5-0-1)… Morrisville is led by freshman Kelley Graham, who has a team-high eight goals and eight assists… Classmate Renee Schmaltz has compiled a .928 save percentage and 1.59 goals against average in nine games this season.
