UTICA, NY – Senior defensive end
Nick Woodman (Utica, NY/Proctor) was named to the D3football.com National Team of the Week on Tuesday morning after his performance in the Pioneers' 42-28 win over Misericordia at home on Saturday. Woodman posted 1.5 sacks and added six tackles for the Pioneer defense.
D3football.com is in its 17th season of selecting a National Team of the Week. The website staff selects players at each position from the top performances from across the country at the Division III level.
Woodman has tied UC alum and current assistant coach
Tracy Branch for the school-record for career sacks (18.0). In 27 career games Woodman has posted 128 tackles, five pass deflections, four forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries. Last season he led the conference with 12 sacks on his was to earning all-conference and all-region recognition.
Utica returns to action on the road Saturday when the Pioneers travel to Ohio Northern for a 12 p.m. kickoff.
