CLINTON, NY - The Utica University women's cross country team took second place out of six teams at the Hamilton Invitational, hosted by Hamilton College on Saturday morning.
Leading the way for the Pioneers was
Marlo Townsend (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy), who took home a fourth place finish with a time of 18:37.8. Townsend was the first member of an Empire 8 team to cross the finish line this morning.
Lacey Simmons (Vernon Center, NY/Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) was the next best Pioneer finisher with a time of 20:3.9 to take home 14th place.
Emma Charboneau (Fultonville, NY/Fonda-Fultonville) and
Isabella Verdejo (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) were next across the line for the Pioneers, registering a 23rd place time of 21:56.1 and a 25th place time of 22:39.8, respectively. Rounding out the scorecard for the Pioneers was Caroline Young who finished with a time of 23:18.9 and
Kamryn Williams (New York Mills, NY/New York Mills) who finished with a time of 24:14.3.
Utica returns to action on Saturday, October 18 as the team travels to Glassboro, NJ to take on the Rowan Border Battle, hosted by Rowan University. Start time is yet to be determined.
