Utica, NY (1-29-12) – Freshman Mi’chael White, of the Utica College men’s track team, was named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending Jan. 29, 2012.

White earned the Male Field Athlete of the Meet for his performance Saturday at the 2011-12 Empire 8 Conference Indoor Championships hosted by Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY.  The jumps specialist participated in the triple, long, and high jump events.

He took first place in the triple jump with a leap of 13.54 meters and second in the long jump as he shattered his previous season-best, launching to 6.66 meters.  In the high jump, he posted another second place tally for the team as he tied his season-best with a jump of 1.88 meters.

The Pioneers finished third at the Championships for the second straight year as they recorded 81 points at the six-team competition.
