Utica, NY (2/18/13) – Junior guard Connor Maisch of the Utica College men’s basketball team was named the College’s Co-Male Athlete of the Week for his efforts on the court this past weekend.

Maisch scored 18 points, including the game-winning 3-pointer with less than a second left on the clock, in the Pioneers 69-66 victory over Ithaca College on Friday, February 15. He tallied 14 points on 100% shooting from downtown (2-2) and the free throw line (4-4) in the team’s 88-84 victory over Elmira on Saturday. Maisch averaged 16 points and shot 70% (7-10) from 3-point land in their 2-0 week.

Maisch is currently ranked first in the nation in 3-point field goal percentage (52.4%). He is also in the top 15 in the Empire 8’s four main statistical categories, including first in 3-point percentage (53.5%), fourth in points per game (16.5), 12th in field goal percentage (50%) and 13th in rebounds a game (5.6).

The Pioneers are currently 12-13 overall, including an 8-6 mark in the Empire 8. The team sealed its first playoff berth appearance since the 2008-09 season, they take on top-seeded and host Stevens Institute of Technology on Friday, February 22. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
