Utica, NY (3/11/13) - Senior midfielder Ben Winkler of the Utica men’s lacrosse team was named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week Monday for his outstanding performance this past weekend on the field.
On Saturday against Manhattanville College, Winkler scored a game high four goals to along with two assists to help UC bounce back for its second win of the season, following their home opening loss to Oswego State.
In three games so far, Winkler currently leads the team in almost every offensive category including points (12), goals (10) and shots (35). Also, he is currently tied for seventh in goals scored in the Empire 8 Conference.
UC returns to action Wednesday Mar. 20 as its host non-conference visitors Vassar College. Face-off is set for 1 p.m. Winkler has seven career goals against Vassar, including six scores last year in the Pioneers’ 13-12 victory over the Brewers.
