Utica, NY (4/1/13) – Freshman Alysa Russell of the Utica College softball team was named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for her efforts on the diamond last week.

Russell had eight hits, including one home run in 16 at bats to help Utica to a 4-2 record last week.  Over the course of six games she racked up 12 RBI and one stolen base and an impressive slugging percentage of .875. 

On the season, she has totaled 12 runs, 17 hits, 15 RBI and two homeruns.  She ranks second on the team with a .378 batting average and third in stolen bases (five).

The Pioneers are currently 9-7 overall, including a 0-2 mark in conference play. They return to action Wednesday, April 3 as they welcome Union College to Greenman Field. The double-header match-up is set to begin at 3:30 p.m.
