UTICA, NY (3/31/14) – Junior Morgan DuPont of the Utica College women’s lacrosse team was named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week Monday after leading UC to a 1-1 record in its first Empire 8 matchups of the season.
DuPont scored 12 points in two games last week, while also tying the school record for assists in a single game in both contests. On Friday against Stevens Institute of Technology, DuPont tallied five points, all assists, to match the program’s single-game assist record. She had another impressive outing in Utica’s 16-9 win over Hartwick, as she once again tallied five helpers, and also scored two goals of her own, for a season-high seven points.
On the season, DuPont’s 21 assists lead the team and the conference. With one more assist, she will set a new program record for assists in a single season. DuPont ranks second on the team this season with 24 total points. She now ranks second on the College's all-time list with 51 career assists. She needs six more to tie Tammy Kohanski's '11 mark of 57, which ranks first all-time.
The Pioneers (5-2) have two more games in a four-game home stand at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium. The next game will be against St. John Fisher College Saturday at 1 p.m.
