UTICA, NY- Freshmen sprinter Nicodemus Gambil of the men’s track and field team was named the Utica College Male Athlete of the Week after leading his team at the Golden Eagle Invitational Saturday afternoon at Brockport.

    Gambil took first place in the 60 yard dash Saturday with a clock time of 7.09. He also teamed up with freshmen Jonathon Ramirez and James Brown as well as senior Andrew Hoover to take second place in the 4x200 meter relay with a time of 1:32:28.

    Last Saturday at the Empire 8 Conference Championships Gambill posted a season-best time of 7.03 to take home second in the 60 meter dash. 

    Utica returns to action Friday when it heads to Rochester, NY for the 2015 New York State Collegiate Track Conference Indoor Championships hosted by Rochester Institute of Technology.  The two day event takes place Friday Feb. 27th and Saturday Feb. 28th and will be held at the Gordon Field House.  The events are set to kick off at 3 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. on Saturday.
