UTICA, NY— Junior Kevin Gangemi was named the Utica College Male Athlete of the Week on Monday.

Over the weekend at Boston University’s David Hemery Valentine Invitational Gangemi broke his own school-record with a time of 49.26 in the 400 meter dash on Saturday. He was also part of the Pioneers’ 4 x400m relay team that broke the school-record with a time of 3:18.10 finishing first in the event.

The junior currently ranks 30^th on the indoor national qualifying list in the 400m. In addition, his record breaking time in the 4x400 ranks him at No. 6 nationally with Alex Luckoo, Brendan Moore and Tyler Wright.

Gangemi and the men’s track and field team will travel to Ithaca College on Friday for one last meet before the Empire 8 Indoor Championships at Houghton College on February 24. Start time is set for 10 a.m.
