Men's Golf Wraps Up Canton Invitational, Maloney Places Second

CANTON, NY - The Utica University men's and women's golf team wrapped up play at the Partridge Run Golf & Country Club on Thursday afternoon. The men's team took second place out of six and the women took second out of two teams.

The women's team saw Alaina Weaver place third out of 11 golfers, scoring an 85, 13-over-par. Weaver scored a 42 on the first nine and 43 on the last nine, totaling eight pars on the afternoon. She made three straight pars on holes 11, 12 and 13.
 
Emily Elwood placed sixth, scoring a 99, 27-over-par. Carly Stefanini and Paige Graves rounded out the scorecard for the Pioneers. Stefanini completed the day with 102 strokes and Graves totaled 106.
 
The men's team placed two players in the top five, Daniel Maloney () and Nathan Macdonald (Canton, MA/Canton). Maloney had an excellent first collegiate outing, coming in second place and tying with a 76, four-over-par. He scored an eagle on a par 5, which was one of three eagles that had been scored all afternoon. Maloney also tallied four birdies and shot for par seven times.
 
Macdonald placed fourth, carding a 77, five-over-par and scoring three birdies. Adam Woodmansee (Brewerton, NY/Paul V. Moore) took seventh with a 78. Aydin Parekh (Nobleton, Ontario/Blyth Academy) placed 18th with a score of 82, followed by Drake Morse (Grand Rapids, MI/Shreveport Mudbugs (NAHL)) carding an 89.
 
Both teams compete tomorrow at the SUNY Poly Invitational on Friday, September 20. Tee time is set for 10 a.m. and will be played at the Kanon Valley Country Club in Oneida, NY.
