Utica, N.Y. (10-11-10) Senior diver #Ashley Van Patten# of the Utica College swim and dive team was named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending Oct. 17, 2010.  Van Patten took second in both of the mixed one meter diving events as the Pioneers lost their season-opener against host LeMoyne on Sunday.

She posted respectable scores of 163.20 and 203.95. She finished 3.5 points off the first place mark set by LeMoyne’s Mary Walton in the first one meter diving event.  Also, she was less than one point away from taking first place in the second one meter diving competition.  LeMoyne is a Division II, scholarship offering, institution in Syracuse. 

Last season, Van Patten posted two NCAA qualifying scores and barely missed out on a trip to the NCAA’s in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  Although the qualifying cut mark has been raised this season Van Patten hopes her off season training has prepared her for a post season trip in 2010-2011.
