Utica, N.Y (11/8/10) – Sophomore running back Jake Scott (Irondequoit/Rochester, NY) of the Utica College football team was named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending Nov. 7, 2010.

Scott rushed the ball 23 times for 96 yards and two touchdowns as the Pioneers lost to host Hartwick College 24-21 in Empire 8 Conference play Saturday afternoon.  After scoring twice on Saturday Scott now holds sole possession of the College’s single-season rushing touchdown record.  Scott’s 12 touchdowns this season eclipsed the old mark of ten set by Mike Capra in 2001.  He also broke the school-record for points (72) in a single season.

Through nine games this season Scott has rushed the ball 170 times for 713 yards and he has also caught 12 passes for 82 yards.  He averages 79.2 rushing yards per game and ranks second in the conference averaging eight points per game.

The Pioneers return to action in their regular season finale Saturday when they host NCAA Tournament bound Alfred University in a conference contest at 1 p.m.
