Utica, NY (2/18/13) – Junior forward Jon Gaffney of the Utica College men’s hockey team was named the College’s Co-Male Athlete of the Week for his efforts on the ice this past weekend.

Gaffney scored a goal and dished out an assist in the Pioneers 3-2 victory over Manhattanville on Friday, February 15. The win marked the Pioneers 20th and brought them one step closer to an ECAC West regular season title.
Gaffney added another goal in the Pioneers 4-4 overtime draw against Manhattanville on Saturday.

On the season, Gaffney has scored 12 goals while adding 12 assists. In the Pioneers 25 games this season he has taken 63 shots and has a .190 shooting percentage. Gaffney scored a season-best three goals on five shots in the Pioneers 7-2 victory back on November 3, 2012 against Nazareth College.

The Pioneers have an overall record of 20-4-1, including an 11-3-1 mark in the conference. They have sealed the number one spot and regular season title for the ECAC West and are set to host the semi-final match-up on Saturday, February 23 at the Utica Memorial Auditorium. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
