Hannah Mackey of the Utica College field hockey team was named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week on Monday.
Mackey, a junior, had three goals in two games to help the Pioneers to a 1-1 record in the last week of the regular season. On Wednesday, Mackey had one goal in UC’s 4-3 overtime loss to Oneonta.
In Wednesday’s game, the Pioneers continued to prove they are a tough team to beat in regulation, as three of the team’s four losses this year have come in overtime. In addition, the Pioneers have not lost to a team with a winning percentage of .500 or lower all season.
On Saturday, Mackey added two more goals in UC’s 7-1 senior day win over Brockport. She finished the regular season with a team-high 16 goals.
The Pioneers finished the regular season with a 14-4 record, and look to extend their season on Saturday as they take on Ithaca in the Empire 8 semifinals in Hoboken, NJ. The match begins at 2 p.m.
