UTICA, NY -- Senior defenseman Mike Baird of the Utica College men’s hockey team was named ECAC Men’s West Player of the Week and the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for his efforts through two games last weekend.
 
Baird registered one goal and three assists as the Pioneers went 2-0 against two NESCAC opponents over the weekend. The defenseman tallied a career-high one-goal and two assists in the Pioneers’ 5-1 win over Connecticut College on Saturday night.
 
The senior captain then added one assist in the Pioneers’ 5-3 win over Hamilton on Friday. Baird also helped the Pioneers’ penalty kill unit hold their two opponents to a combined 1-for-12 effort over the course of two games.
 
The Pioneers are now 3-4-2 overall and 0-4-1 in the ECAC West Conference. They will take on Trinity College on Friday, December 5 at the Utica Memorial Auditorium as part of the New York Sash Teddy Bear Toss. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
