Utica, NY (3/2/15)- Junior Morgan Reed of the Utica College women’s hockey team was named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week, Monday, after an impressive showing over the weekend.
Reed scored her third career hat trick to help lift Utica to a 4-1 victory over Buffalo State in the ECAC West Tournament Quarterfinal on Saturday evening. She now has two postseason hat tricks as she also accomplished the feat in a 4-1 win over Potsdam in the conference quarterfinals last year.
On the year, she leads the team in goals (15), assists (11), and points (26). She is now the Pioneers’ all-time leading scorer in the playoffs with eight goals and two assists in five postseason games, one point ahead of All-American Megan Myers, who scored nine points in six post season games.
The Pioneers (11-10-5) move on to face top seeded and nationally ranked No. 1 Elmira College on Saturday. Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
