Utica, NY – Mikayla Blumenstock of the women’s soccer team has been selected as the UC Female Athlete of the Week for her performance over the last couple games.
 
She scored three goals over the past two games, helping the Pioneers come away with overtime wins in both matches. Blumenstock is the leading scorer in the Empire 8 as she now has recorded nine goals in her first season as a Pioneer.
 
In the 2-1 overtime win against Morrisville State College Blumenstock scored the equalizing goal in regulation that pushed the game to extra time where UC pulled out the victory.
 
Against Alfred University Mikayla notched two scores, including the game-winner in overtime to secure Utica the 3-2 win in conference play. This was her second game-winning overtime goal of the 2018 season.
 
Blumenstock and the rest of the Pioneers are now 7-5-2 overall and 3-1-1 in E8 play, as they prepare for Thursday’s 7 p.m. meeting with SUNY Poly on the road.
