Matt Wood has been selected as Pioneer Athlete of the Week for the week of March 17th, 2025.

Wood had a spectacular weekend for the Pioneers in their NCAA Tournament First Round victory over MASCAC Champion Fitchburg State. The senior leader netted the first two goals of the game, putting the Pioneers ahead by a 2-0 margin by the end of the first period. Wood proved opportunistic in the proceedings, placing himself in the best positions to succeed and managing to accurately put away a couple of key chances to create the two-goal gap. Wood passed the 30-point threshold in the contest, increasing his season totals to nine goals and 21 assists. The Pioneers will welcome western powerhouse St. Norbert College this weekend in a quarterfinal clash to decide which prestigious program will add another frozen four to their resume. Saturday’s showdown starts at 1:00 PM in the Adirondack Bank Center.
