Utica, NY (9/24/12)- Junior Morgan Payne of the Utica College men’s cross-country team was named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the second time in three weeks, Monday.
Payne had his best performance of the season, Saturday, at the Purple Valley Classic hosted by Williams College. The Williamstown, NY native placed 15th overall with a time of 26:51 for the 8-k race. The meet featured 17 teams, including ten that are ranked in the top 35 in the country.
Payne has finished first on the team in all three races so far this season. He also won the Steven A. Warde Invitational hosted by SUNY Cobleskill on Sept. 8.
The Pioneers return to action Saturday Oct. 6 when they head across town to Clinton, NY for the Hamilton College Invitational. The race is scheduled to start at 12 p.m.
