Utica, NY (2-25-13) – Freshman forward Morgan Reed, of the Utica College women’s hockey team, was named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week Monday for her performance on the ice this past Friday.

Reed tallied two goals and an assist Friday night to lead the Pioneers to a convincing, 5-1 victory against SUNY Potsdam in the semifinal round of ECAC Women’s West Conference Tournament.  She set-up the first UC goal at 10:08 in the first period before netting the eventual game-winner just over three minutes later at 13:22. Her third goal capped the scoring on the evening as she put home a power-play score at 17:32.

On the season, Reed is fifth in scoring on the team with 14 points on five goals and nine assists.  She has turned it on of late tallying six points over her last three games, including five in her last two contests.

The Pioneers are currently 16-8-2 overall and return to post-season action this weekend as they head to Plattsburgh, NY for the ECAC Women’s West Finals.  UC will face-off against Elmira College on Saturday, Mar. 2nd at 7p.m. The championship game will be held on Sunday, Mar. 3rd in Plattsburgh as well.
