Utica, NY (12/06/10): Forward #Tim Coffman# of the Utica College men’s hockey team was named the UC Male Athlete of the week for the week ending December 5th. The junior captain currently leads the team with 17 points by tallying four goals and providing 13 assists.

This past Friday, Coffman netted a goal and had two assists to help the Pioneers skate past ECAC Men’s West Conference rival and nationally-ranked No. 8 Manhattanville College, 5-3. The win marked the first time Utica has defeated the Valiants in eight chances dating back to February of 2008.

The next night, Coffman scored the first goal of the game, leading the Pioneers to a key non-conference road victory against nationally-ranked No. 15 Buffalo State.
Coffman has led UC to a 2-2-0 conference record and 8-3-0 mark overall. The overall record is the best start for Utica since the 2005-2006 season.

The Pioneers will need Coffman to come up big this Friday night when they hit the road to take on nationally-ranked No. 1 SUNY Oswego (11-0). The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. The Pioneers return home Saturday for the fifth annual New York SASH Teddy Bear Toss when they meet up with Buffalo State for the second time in three games at 7 p.m. Fans who bring a stuffed animal to the game will receive free admission. After the Pioneers score their first goal fans can throw the stuffed animal out onto the ice for collection and distribution to local charities throughout the holiday season.
