Utica, NY (10/20/14) – Junior wide receiver Gregory Palmer of the Utica College football team was named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for his effort against Fisher.

Late in the fourth quarter, Palmer caught a 40 yard touchdown pass from Teddy Van Galen. The late touchdown proved to be too little too late as UC lost to Fisher. The touchdown catch gives Palmer his second on the season; he’s tied with Anthony Acevedo for most on the team.

Palmer has tied last year’s mark of two TD catches and seven games played. He sits third on the team with 150 receiving yards this season. Palmer’s team-leading 21.43 average receiving yards is ninth in the Empire 8.

Palmer’s other touchdown was very similar in style but against Misericordia (9/6/14). Palmer caught a 57 yarder from Will Kassar to help Utica defeat Misericordia.

The Pioneers will travel to Buffalo on Saturday for a conference matchup against Buffalo State. The game is set to kick off at 2 p.m.
