UTICA, NY – Freshman sprinter/hurdler Jessica Ciraulo (Schenectady, NY / Mohonasen) of the Utica College women’s track and field team was named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending Feb. 6.

Ciraulo won the 55-meter hurdles and placed fourth in the 200-yard dash Saturday at the Hamilton College Invitational. She qualified for the finals with a time of 8.56 in the 55-meter hurdles. Her qualifying time was nearly one second faster than the second place finisher. She breezed to a win in the finals with a time of 8.67.

Over the course of six top three performances this season, she has two victories, three second-place finishes and one third-place finish.

Ciraulo qualified for ECAC post-season competition on Jan. 15 when she won the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.79 and she was recently named to the Empire 8 Women’s Indoor Track &Field All-Conference Team. She received Second Team All-Conference honors in the 55-meter dash, 55-meter hurdles and the 200-meter dash.

The Pioneers return to the action on Feb. 12 when they participate in the Robert Kane Invitational at Cornell University. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
