UTICA, NY- Utica College sophomore swimmer TJ Tellekamp was named the Utica College Male Athlete of the Week after his record breaking performance Friday at a tri-meet against visiting Alfred University and Wells College at the UC Pool.
    Tellekamp earned a first place finish and set a new pool record in the men's 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:48.79 to secure nine team points early in the competition for the Pioneers. He also posted a first place finish in the men's 100 yard freestyle with a time of 49.61. He also had success with his 200 Yard Freestyle Relay team as they earned a second place finish at the meet.
    His time in the 200 yard freestyle was nearly four seconds faster than the second place finisher. Tellekamp now has a total of eight individual race victories on the year.
    UC holds a 6-4 record this season and has won five of its last seven. The team is back in action on Saturday with a meet against Nazareth College and St. Lawrence University at the Utica College Pool at 1 p.m.
