Junior pitcher Brittany Meka of the Utica College softball team has been selected as UC’s Female Athlete of the Week for her performance during the Rebel Spring Games in Florida.

Meka picked up two wins and one save in six appearances last week.  She was the only Utica pitcher to leave Florida with a winning record.  She recorded a 1.11 ERA and 22 strikeouts in just over 25 innings pitched.  Her best performance was against Farmingdale State as she struck out ten and allowed just three hits in a 6-2 complete game victory. The team went 4-4 during their games last week. On the season, Meka is leading the team with a 2-1 record, a 1.34 ERA, two complete games, a save, and 23 strikeouts.

The team is scheduled to be back in action on Saturday as the Pioneers host Skidmore College for a doubleheader. Game one of the matchup begins at 1 p.m.
