2016: Competed at eight different meets as a thrower during the indoor season … His main events that he participated in were the shot put and the weight throw, but he did run one 200M race as well … His only 200M time of 25.79 was recorded at the Utica College Jen & Todd Hutton Invitational (12/12/15) … His best shot put distance of the season came at the Continental Indoor Track & Field Invitational with a mark of 12.68M (1/23/16) … His new personal record distance in the weight throw event is 14.66M which he earned at the NYSCTC Indoor Track & Field Championships (2/26/16).
 
Participated at eight meets for the Pioneers over the course of the outdoor season … His three events that he competed in all season were the shot put, discus toss, and the hammer throw … He threw a new personal record in the discus with a distance of 45.73M at the St. John Fisher College Cardinal Classic (4/30/16) … His best hammer throw came at the St. John Fisher College Cardinal Classic as well with a distance of 44.66M (4/30/16) … The best distance he threw in the spring season for the shot put was 13.21M at the NYSCTC Outdoor Track & Field Championships (5/6/16).

Personal: Russell is a 2012 graduate of Watertown High School and the son of Debra and David Russell ... He is currently pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice.
